Common Conditions Service Now Available at Adrian Dunne Pharmacy!

We’re excited to announce the launch of the Common Conditions Service at your local Adrian Dunne Pharmacy. This pharmacist-led clinical service is designed to provide you with timely, professional care for a range of everyday health conditions.

What is the Common Conditions Service?

The Common Conditions Service allows our trained pharmacists to assess, treat and offer professional advice on eight common conditions. This service is delivered under nationally approved HSE clinical protocols, ensuring your safety is always the top priority.

The 8 common conditions include:
  • Allergic rhinitis (2 years and over) and allergic conjunctivitis (2 years and over)
  • Cold sores (1 month and over)
  • Infective conjunctivitis (6 months and over)
  • Impetigo (2 months and older)
  • Oral thrush (1 month and older)
  • Shingles (18 years and over)
  • Uncomplicated urinary tract infection (UTI) in women (16-64 years)
  • Vulvovaginal thrush (16-60 years)

How it Works

During a consultation, a trained pharmacist will assess your symptoms, follow HSE clinical guidelines and recommend treatment where necessary. This may include prescribing prescription-only medication, suggesting over-the-counter options or offering self-care advice. If your symptoms fall outside the service criteria, you may be referred to your GP or hospital for further care.

The consultation fee is €35. If a prescription is recommended, the medication cost is additional, but you may be eligible for coverage under the Medical Card or Drugs Payment Scheme (DPS).

How to Access the Service:

  • Walk-in consultations are available at our 13 community pharmacies
  • Alternatively, you can request an appointment using our online form

Please note, if using the walk-in service, during busy times you may need to wait until a pharmacist is available to carry out the consultation

Important Note:

Please note that not all conditions or patients will be suitable for this service. If your condition requires additional care or falls outside the guidelines, we will refer you to your GP or A&E as appropriate.
