Erectile Dysfunction (ED) has been defined as the inability to attain and/or maintain an erection hard enough for satisfactory sexual intercourse. It can occur occasionally or frequently and men are able to self-recognise the condition, which can vary in severity from mild (a soft erection) to severe (no erection at all).

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects although not everybody gets them. The side

How to use this product

  • Take 1 tablet, as needed, approximately 1 hour before sexual activity. Viagra Connect can start to work within 30 minutes of taking.
  • Swallow the tablet whole with water. Take with or without food, but Viagra Connect may take longer to work after a heavy meal.
  • Do not take Viagra Connect with grapefruit or grapefruit juice, because this can affect how the medicine works.
  • Drinking alcohol can temporarily impair your ability to get an erection. To get the maximum benefit from your medicine, you are advised not to drink excessive amounts of alcohol before taking Viagra Connect.
  • Do not take more than 1 tablet a day.

Ingredients

The active substance is sildenafil. Each tablet contains 50 mg of sildenafil (as citrate).

The other ingredients are:

Tablet core: microcrystalline cellulose, calcium hydrogen phosphate (anhydrous), croscarmellose sodium  and magnesium stearate

Film coat: hypromellose, titanium dioxide (E 171), lactose, triacetin and indigo carmine aluminium lake (E 132)

Q9: Do you have any bleeding issues (e.g. haemophilia) or diseases (e.g. leukaemia, sickle cell anaemia, multiple myeloma) or have active stomach ulcers?

Q10: Are you taking nitrate medicine to treat or prevent chest pain (angina), heart attack or heart failure or ritonavir (for HIV infection)?

Q11: Are you taking any CYP3A4 inhibitors, e.g. saquinavir (to treat HIV infection), cimetidine (a heartburn treatment), itraconazole or ketoconazole (to treat fungal infections), erythromycin or rifampicin (antibiotics) or diltiazem (for high blood pressure)?

Q12: Are you taking any alpha-blockers, such as alfuzosin, doxazosin or tamsulosin, which are medicines to treat urinary problems due to enlarged prostate (benign prostatic hyperplasia) or occasionally to treat high blood pressure?

Q13: Are you taking any other medication for erectile dysfunction or other pulmonary arterial hypertension treatments containing sildenafil?

Q14: Do you have any health issues with your liver or kidneys?

Q15: Are you using drugs called 'poppers' for recreational purposes (e.g. amyl nitrate)?

Q16: Please review the Ingredients for this product. Do you have an allergy, hyersensitivity or intolerance to any of the Ingredients listed?

Q17: Are you aware that grapefruit juice and grapefruit can interact with some medicines and should not be consumed when taking Viagra Connect?

Q18: Do you understand that ED can be an early indicator of cardiovascular disease or diabetes and that, if not done so already, it is strongly advised that you consult your local GP within 6 months for a clinical review of potential underlying conditions and risk factors associated with ED
