Covid-19 Booster

COVID-19 BOOSTER DOSES

The protection from previous doses or a COVID-19 infection may weaken over time. Booster doses help boost your antibodies and give you good protection from becoming seriously ill or needing to go to hospital if you get COVID-19.

A first booster is recommended for all adults age 18 years and older. After this, seasonal boosters are recommended for some people. To find out more about the Covid Booster vaccine, please visit the HSE website here.

COVID-19 Spring Booster Campaign 2024

NIAC has recommended a COVID-19 Spring booster for the following cohorts:

  • those aged 80 years and older;
  • those living in long-term care facilities for older adults; and
  • those aged 5 years and older with immunocompromise associated with a suboptimal response to vaccination.

NIAC has also recommended that the Spring booster be made available for those aged 70 to 79 years who, following discussion with a healthcare provider, request vaccination.

The HSE is currently working on rolling out these recommendations. When we receive further information and dates from the HSE for the 2024 Spring booster campaign we will update this page and share details on our social media pages.
